The Colour Revolt Nashville Concert reviews
Two great acts in a too small venue
The show this night at the Riviera was beyond capacity, with the crowd sold out. If you weren't at the front, you wouldn't be able to see, even if you were on time or late. The stage at The Riviera is set way too low, and the sightlines are very bad beyond the front row of each tier, granted. This show, being The Colour Revolt's homecoming, should've been held at the much larger, much more comfortable Aragon Ballroom across the street, as it was also a showcase for the very popular opening act Sick Puppies. The set itself was a very good one, with The Colour Revolt sounding tight and the audio quality superb. Their hour and twenty-minute set spanned the band's entire 12-year professional career, playing all their hit singles and a smattering of really cool deep tracks as well, taking samplings from each album. Sick Puppies, the Australian trio, were not to be outdone. They have become a popular touring act, making Chicago their home away from home, having played area venues 9 times in the past two years. They put on a high-energy show and give it their all at every outing. It's surprising that so many bigger name bands bring them on tour because they are an impossible act to follow and live up to. It was a shame that their set was on the shorter side. I would've liked to have seen 5-7 more songs from them. Hopefully, they go on the road again soon as headliners.
